This page is for hikers - any and all kinds of hikers.
If you're not a hiker, you may be in the wrong place.Or maybe not. But that's YOUR choice. Life is full of choices - isn't it!
Everything here will have a thruhiker flavor because we are thruhikers. But we're also day hikers - and section hikers - and.... any other kind of hiker you can imagine. We're "hikers" - any time, any place, any way. So no matter where or when or how you hike, there may possibly be something of interest here.
If you're not a hiker, then you can at least look at a few pretty pictures.
We know - some of you don't even know what a thruhiker IS. But if you hang around here, you may find out.
For those who've repeatedly asked us when "The Book" is coming -- it isn't. This is it.
We've had at least a half-dozen serious book offers over the last 8 years. There are several reasons why we've consistently refused to go that route:
- Books are static - trails are dynamic. Trails change every year, as do gear, weather conditions, Trail Angels, information sources, etc. If "everything you ever wanted to know about thruhiking" were to be put in one book, it would be obsolete before it was actually published. We don't intend to spend our lives trying to catch up on that cycle. We'd rather be hiking.
- We long ago decided that this kind of information should be "community property" - and therefore, FREE. Writing a book would involve making people pay for information that we've given away freely for the last 14 years. We're not interested in doing that.
Since you won't be getting "The Book", we hope you enjoy what's here.
