In 2008, we spent 4 days in Grand Gulch, first hiking north from Collins Spring to Pollys Island, then south to Shaw Arch, then back to Collins Spring. This page displays just a few of the photos that we took during the first 2 days. The distance for the 4 days wasn't that great, but we spent a LOT of time finding a LOT of archeological sites.
Our turnaround for the first two days was Pollys Island, Which is a rock formation with a ruin near the top. Close by there's also a very large and complex petroglyph panel that's mostly obscured by a huge rock. At the back of the western arm of the canyon surrounding the Island is a small, very old ruin with a hands panel and a number of petroglyphs.
One of the oddities here is the "mud pictographs". But this is not the only place we've seen them.
