We found Indian Rock only by asking some of the local people. It's not marked - or protected except by the remoteness of the location.
The "rock" was an outcropping on the Kennebec River a few miles south of the Appalachian Trail crossing of the same river. So the petroglyphs were well-worn by the water action of many years of floods and water releases from the upstream dam. But they are there for those who can see them.
