Chaco Culture National Monument is located in northwestern New Mexico. It's spread over several miles, with several major complexes. In 2007 the road into the Monument was unpaved, which kept the traffic down. Which is a good thing because less traffic (visitors) means less destruction to the ruins and rock art.

Eight hundred years ago, Chaco was the center of a vast network of associated religious and population centers and was connected by a road system to many of those centers.

Chaco is still an active Indian religious site.
