Bandelier National Monument is located near Santa Fe, New Mexico. The ruins and rock art are only one of the many attractions for a hiker. But for the moment, we'll stick to the purpose here.

The Painted Cave is a main attraction. But it's a long walk - either an overnight backpack or a long, long day hike. It's just as well - the site is also an active Indian religious site.
